“Agricultural advice as the cornerstone of AKIS in Spain and Europe” at La Vega Innova

From the AKIS Advisors Platform, we invite you to participate in the conference “Advice as the core of AKIS in Spain and Europe” , which we are organizing together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food , and which will be held at the La Vega Innova venue. The meeting will feature the institutional participation of Begoña García Bernal , and will bring together national and international experts to analyze the strategic role of agricultural advice within the AKIS system, both in Spain and in the European context. A program focused on the present and future of agricultural consulting The day will begin with the institutional opening, followed by a presentation on the role of advice in the future CAP (2028–2034) by the European Commission. Throughout the morning we will cover: The current state of consulting in Spain , including diagnosis, strengths and challenges of the system, with the participation of experts such as Inge Van Oost and Isabel Bombal . International reference models , such as the TEAGASC system in Ireland or the private model in the Netherlands, will provide insights into integration, professionalization and the market. The network advice , with parallel sessions focused on topics such as sustainable nutrition, innovation, plant health, advice for young people or organic production, as well as the connection with European projects of Horizon Europe. Informative workshop on the digital field notebook in Jaén

UPA will hold an informative day on April 28, 2026, focused on the use of the digital field notebook in agriculture , a key tool in the digitization process of the agricultural sector and in the management of farms. The meeting will take place in Baeza (Jaén) , from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. , and is aimed at farmers, technicians and professionals interested in improving the management of their farms through digital solutions adapted to the new CAP requirements. The workshop will address, from a practical perspective, the operation of the digital farm logbook using the Agroslab tool, including real-world examples to facilitate its implementation in the daily operations of farms. Phytoma organizes the meeting "Present and Future of Phytosanitary Measures in Pistachio and Almond"

The meeting will be held on April 28 and 29 at the IRIAF in Tomelloso (Ciudad Real) The town of Tomelloso, in Ciudad Real, will become the world epicenter of nut research from April 28th to 29th . The International Meeting "Phytoma: Present and Future of Plant Health in Pistachios and Almonds" will bring together leading figures in the sector at the Auditorium of the Regional Institute for Agricultural and Forestry Research and Development of Castilla-La Mancha (IRIAF) . The event is particularly noteworthy for the participation of a delegation of four prestigious speakers from the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) , a leading US institution in global agronomic research. The conference "Present and Future of Plant Health in Pistachio and Almond" is structured into four thematic blocks covering everything from agronomy to phytosanitary problems during storage. In addition to US experts, researchers from leading national institutions will participate, including IRIAF, IMIDA, IFAPA, IRTA, IVIA, the University of Córdoba, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the University of Lleida, the University of the Balearic Islands, and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, among others. The first section will analyze agronomic aspects such as the use of cover crops to improve ecosystem services and weed management, as well as pollination by bees of the genus Osmia. Subsequently, the section dedicated to diseases will delve into established and emerging problems such as anthracnose, Monilinia laxa, Diaporthe amygdali , Verticillium wilt , bacterial spot, Xylella fastidiosa , Septoria , and fungi of the Botryosphaeriaceae family. Regarding pests, progress in the sustainable management of the almond wasp (Monosteira unicostata), the Eurytoma amygdali gall wasp, the Capnodis tenebrionis gall wasp, tetranychid mites, the green aphid, and the pistachio leafminer will be discussed. Demonstration workshop: "Predicting vineyard water needs for sustainable use of irrigation water"

The PRERIVID Supra-autonomous Operational Group On Tuesday, April 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. , a face-to-face demonstration workshop will be held to present the latest developments in the project "Predicting Vineyard Water Needs for Sustainable Irrigation Water Use." The workshop will focus on project progress, emphasizing irrigation management and the use of kaolin in the Mediterranean climate. It will also cover advancements in the use of VIS/NIR technologies to assess vineyard water status. The workshop is aimed at farmers and cooperatives, technology and irrigation companies, Regulatory Councils and Designations of Origin, research centers and universities, public administrations, consumers, and the general public. As part of the outreach activities for the PRERIVID project, this demonstration workshop is being organized, in which representatives from the various entities of the Operational Group will present the latest developments of the project, with special emphasis on irrigation management and the use of kaolin in the Mediterranean climate: FEUGA, the technology company Monet Tecnología e Innovación, Bodegas Enguera, and the Quinta Sardonia winery. Organic livestock farming. Forage autonomy for efficient production in resource management

Aimed at rural professionals, this 6-hour field day focuses on strengthening livestock farmers' capacity to adopt sustainable practices in organic livestock farming , especially in extensive systems. Strategies for optimizing the use of forage resources , improving economic efficiency, and addressing the challenges of climate change will be covered. Experts and producers will share experiences on efficient water management, soil fertility, and homegrown forage production, facilitating farm resilience and positioning in high-value markets, in line with the growing demand for organic products. The objectives of the day are: To show participants how to implement grazing management and forage production practices that increase the resilience of their farms and their capacity to mitigate the effects of climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing carbon sequestration in soils. To raise awareness among participants about the importance of forage autonomy as a strategy to promote biodiversity, through the implementation of techniques that promote pasture regeneration, species diversification, and generate ecosystem services such as improved soil fertility, increased local biodiversity, and the maintenance of natural habitats. To provide participants with the technical and practical tools to modernize their farms, improving their efficiency in forage production in an autonomous and ecological way, reducing dependence on external inputs and facilitating the conversion of their farms towards more sustainable models. Demonstration day to optimize inputs in agriculture

Within the framework of the DTDA2 project – Demonstration of Digital Technologies in Agri-food, the University of Cordoba (UCO) will hold a technological demonstration activity on Friday, April 24, focused on optimizing the use of inputs in agriculture. Under the title "New technologies for the optimization of input use in agriculture" , the event will take place in the Agricultural Building of the Rabanales Campus Farm , where researchers, technicians and professionals from the sector interested in learning firsthand about innovative solutions applied to the efficient management of resources will meet. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the official opening ceremony, after which attendees will travel to the Rabanales Experimental Farm to participate in a series of demonstration stations throughout the morning. These sessions will cover key technologies for advancing towards more efficient and sustainable agriculture, including: Near and remote sensors (UAV/UGV) for crop monitoring and control, by Javier Mesas Carrascosa . Innovations in machinery for extensive crops , aimed at reducing the use of inputs, presented by Francisco Márquez García . New solutions in machinery for woody crops , presented by Gregorio L. Sandbox AgriFoodTech offers agri-food companies a working, collaborative and experimental environment where they can test their developments under controlled conditions , generate evidence, gain learning and guide their regulatory evolution. During this online session, details will be provided about the second call for projects, the deadline for which has been extended to May 15. Selected projects will gain access to the Testing Environment , with 100% funding of the activities carried out by CNTA and its partner organizations. This second call for projects is aimed at startups, companies, and organizations in the agri-food sector that have a development and/or production center in Spain or another European Union country, and that develop innovations in products, processes, or technologies at the regulatory frontier . Infoday: Presentation day on supra-regional aid for knowledge exchange and training and information activities

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) will publish the call for applications for grants for knowledge exchange and training and information activities during the month of April. ( Intervention 7201 of the CAP Strategic Plan for Spain ). This intervention responds to the CAP's cross-cutting objective of modernizing agriculture and rural areas by promoting: Vocational training and skills acquisition. Demonstration activities with an eminently practical approach. Exchanges and visits between farms or companies. The training of agricultural advisors. The eligible actions must be framed within the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System ( SCIA/AKIS ) and will be directed to entities and organizations in the agri-food and forestry sector that promote interaction between the different actors through training, information and demonstration activities. During this in-person session – which requires prior registration and can also be followed remotely – firsthand information will be provided on the requirements, deadlines, and criteria of the call for applications . Innovations for adaptation to climate change

Aimed at professionals in rural areas, the full day includes an initial framework conference, followed by 4 thematic panels (in parallel 2 to 2) in the format of 15-minute presentations followed by a round table with questions from the audience, addressing different aspects of the proposed theme. In the afternoon, there will be a session of oral presentations to share various experiences and projects related to the subject, followed by a closing session and networking event for participants to exchange experiences and contacts, with the aim of fostering future collaboration networks. The aim of the day is to provide training in practices and technologies to improve agricultural resilience and the efficient use of water, promote biodiversity, organic production and regenerative management for greater sustainability and encourage the exchange of knowledge and solutions adapted to local contexts.
